Meet the members of Sweden’s official non-negotiating delegation to COP31
Sweden’s official non-negotiating delegation to the UN Climate Change Conference COP31 in Türkiye is presented today. The delegation brings together leading companies and government agencies that are helping to accelerate the climate transition through technology, policy, and financing solutions. As a global “climate matchmaker”, Sweden aims to connect global climate challenges with Swedish solutions that accelerate the implementation of the Paris Agreement while strengthening Swedish competitiveness. The delegation is led by Business Sweden.
This year’s climate conference has a clear focus on implementation, making the Swedish delegation particularly relevant. For the seventh consecutive year, Business Sweden is leading the delegation, which brings together some of Sweden’s leading and largest companies, as well as government agencies and organisations with expertise in technology, financing, policy, and collaboration. Together, they demonstrate how concrete solutions can accelerate the implementation of the Paris Agreement while strengthening resilience and competitiveness. During COP31, the delegation will participate in high-level meetings, panels, and roundtable discussions with decision-makers from government, business, research, and civil society.
The delegation’s message is clear: solutions in technology, research, and financing are already available. What is needed is global political leadership and effective policy instruments to scale them up and accelerate the pace of the transition.
“After years of negotiations, the focus is now on implementation. Countries must turn their climate commitments into action while strengthening energy security, electrification, circularity, resilience, and competitiveness. Many Swedish companies have world-leading solutions to the challenges addressed at COP. I am therefore pleased that so many companies are taking the opportunity to show decision-makers at the conference how the transition can be put into practice by participating in the Swedish pavilion at COP,” says Jan Larsson, CEO of Business Sweden.
“The global climate transition requires both solutions that can reduce emissions here and now and stronger collaboration between business, policymakers, and other stakeholders in society. For Alfa Laval, participating in the Swedish delegation provides a valuable opportunity to contribute to the dialogue on how we can work together to accelerate the global transition,” says Anna Celsing, Head of Group Sustainability, Alfa Laval.
